Dave Reaver was involved in training of Police & Sport Dogs for over forty years. He started Adlerhorst in 1976, and has been the innovator of using the imported dog for Police Service. Dave has been the trend setter in the training of service dogs for almost thirty years.
Dave was a reserve Police Officer for twenty years.
C.R. became a handler in 1981, and ultimately the supervisor for a Los Angeles area K-9 unit. He began instructing for Adlerhorst part time in 1985. Since his retirement from law enforcement after twenty nine years, he has been a full time instructor for Adlerhorst, as well as the SKIDDS school.
Ed was a Police Officer and a supervisor for thirty three years. He first became a dog handler in 1979. He has also been active in the Schutzhund sport for many years. He has been with Adlerhorst full time since his retirement in 2003. Ed resides in West Texas and does much of our satellite training in the Southwest.
Doug was a Police Officer for twenty years, and a handler for seven years. He has been an instructor for Adlerhorst since 1999. Doug is one of the instructors for our six week Basic Handler Course. In addition he does the maintenance training for our Northern California Group and Palm Springs. He is one of the instructors for POST re-certification and patrol re-certifications.
Paul Western has been in law enforcement with the San Bernardino sheriff’s and Pomona Police department for twenty three years. He spent thirteen years as a K9 officer working a dual purpose dog for apprehension and explosives. He also spent ten years as a SWAT team member working as a K9 handler and explosive breacher. Paul western has been with Adlerhorst since 2008 as a apprehension, narcotics, explosive and mobile odor detection instructor.
Daryl Gaunt began working with dogs by decoying for Inglewood police department in 1978.He also worked with the Los Angeles Schutzhund Club where he held the position of Vice President and Assistant Training Director. He then went onto the Army for eight years and was a military dog handler for four years. He has worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Los Angeles County since 1991 and has been assigned to the canine unit since 2003.He is currently working, as a SWAT patrol dog and explosive detection dog Handler.
Tom Brown has worked for the Pasadena Police Department for the last twenty four years. Tom worked as a decoy for five years before becoming a canine handler. Tom worked a cross-trained patrol dog for nine years. He has worked for Adlerhorst since 2008 after completing the Post Evaluators Course. Tom works as a Post Evaluator for patrol and narcotic re-certification classes. Tom is currently working monthly narcotic maintenance and the Basic Narcotic Classes
Tom Fidel has been in law enforcement for over twenty five years. He currently works as a dual purpose canine handler for an agency in San Diego County. Tom has been a handler for more than fifteen years and has worked three police canines. He has been a patrol, narcotics, and explosive dog handler. He currently works the patrol and detection monthly training for San Diego County.
Glen Anderson worked for the Rialto Police Department and has over twenty years in Law Enforcement. He has over 14 years as a canine handler / trainer. He currently works the monthly narcotic maintenance classes for drug detection.
Mike McCarthy works for Santa Ana Police Department and has over seventeen years in Law Enforcement. He has over thirteen years as a canine handler / trainer. He is qualified by California POST as a subject matter expert in canine operations. He is qualified as a California POST training evaluator for all aspects of canine certifications. He currently works the monthly maintenance narcotic training for Orange County.
Ron Ramirez is a recently retired police officer who worked as a handler, supervisor and department trainer. He has been an instructor at Adlerhorst since 2007, serving as one of the instructors for the Basic Handler Course, Patrol & Detection Monthly Training, the Re-Certification Courses and the K9 Evaluators Course.
Ron is currently a full time instructor for the Basic Detection Courses.
Rick worked for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for thirty-one years and retired as a Sergeant. He worked nine years as a canine handler and five years as the K-9 Sergeant. His canine was trained in apprehension and narcotics detection. He has worked for Adlerhorst since 2015 as a monthly apprehension trainer. In addition he does maintenance training for Central California groups including Fresno Sheriff, Clovis PD and Sangers PD.
Judith is an invaluable member of our Adlerhorst team. She oversees the health management and well being of our Adlerhorst canines. Judith has many years of sports training in both obedience and protection. She is the proud owner of JJK9 Ranch,professional Police canine grooming and excellent European German shepherd breeding.
Joseph Olinger has been with Adlerhorst International LLC since 2016. Joe takes excellent care of the maintenance and well being of our Adlerhorst canines. Joe developed his passion and love for dogs while working with his families hunting dogs.
Jeremy Miranda has been decoying for Southern California agencies for more than seven years. Jeremy has been with Adlerhorst International LLC since 2017.
